John14:15-24 if you love me, you will keep my commandments! Just that is not what Jesus leaves His disciples with, He tells them that He will send the Helper to live in them. He states that He will not leave them as orphans but that He will be with them. This is an awesome text because we can now see evidence that what Jesus was telling them is true. We have the Holy Spirit living inside of us, helping us to keep His words. So now we can know if we love Jesus, do we keep His commandments? Don't look at this as trying to become self righteous! Jesus is not saying here for you to prove to Him that you love Him and then He will bless you with the Holy Spirit. He is saying that you will know if you love Him if you keep His commands. He already knows wether you love Him or not, He is God! Listen to this, Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Does that excite you to think that God has or will made His home with you? I pray that it does and that it is what drives our lives! May we today keep His words out of the love we have for Him and by the love that He has shown us! God bless

John14:1-14 Jesus is the Way, the truth and the life! He is the only way to the Father. The disciples are confused on what Jesus is saying here. They are asking questions like we don't know the way, what way. Show us the Father and that'll be enough for us to believe. When He has explained the He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. Now their confusion will not prevent Jesus from the truth that He shared with them to start. "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. He said this because He knew how they would react. He also encouraged them and us that they will be with Him where He is going. He says, in my Fathers house there are many rooms, and he is going to prepare a place for them. This house is not built by man, so get materialism out of your head. This is all spiritual with only God, not anything that was built and can be destroyed. This is like no other place you can imagine and it's only because God is there! When all we have is God we do not want! Amen! So today may we remember all that Christ has done and trust in Him! Do you know the way? God bless

John13:36-38 Peter is telling Jesus what he knows about himself and how he will choose to follow Him and die with Jesus. So Jesus gives Peter and insight into what Peter will actually do when tested to follow Jesus. He tells Peter before the sun fully rises you will deny me three times. Wow! Understand as much as Peter humanly can, he loves and trust Jesus. That is why Jesus is telling Peter He must go. Not so He will make Peter look worthless, weak, and a lier. He loves Peter and He wants the best for Peter and you. The best for us is to know our God and to make much of our God. That is the only true joy.
So trials come to show us that He is with us and that we can trust Him. Our faith is in Him and what He can do through us. This what Peter wrote after Being filled with the Holy Spirit. 1Peter5:6Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,
7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. God bless

John13:31-35 Jesus speaks here about that the Father and Him will be glorified in all the things that are about to happen. He also tells them that He is going away and gives them a new command. This command was for them and for us! For those who are His disciples. The command says, love one another the way I love you, by this people will know that you are my disciples. This is something that we must consider very important and seek Him to help us accomplish. Do you love others the way Christ loves you? First we must consider how does Jesus love us, Eph.5:2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. May today we truly show the love of Christ in what we say and do! Through this love others see that Jesus is leading us as His disciples! To Him be the Glory! God bless

John 13:1-20 Jesus washes His disciples' feet. This is an amazing picture of Gods grace and mercy. Here He is teaching us to humble ourselves and to serve those He puts in our life. Not just people who are loving us and are on our side but our enemies. He knew what Judas was going to do but He still washed his feet. If Christ can wash Judas's feet, then we can wash any bodies feet. Peter didn't want Jesus to wash his feet because he knew he was unworthy for Jesus to touch his feet. Yet Jesus told him, if I don't wash you, you have no share with me. Peter's reply says it all, then wash all of me! Are you asking God to wash all of you? If so are you willing to wash others feet out of the grace God has shown you? Jesus said, For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. This must be the way in which we minister to others. We must die to ourselves, lift up our cross, and follow Him. All for the Glory of the One who sends us! May Jesus be exalted in our lives today! God bless

John 12:37-50 in this text the people still are wrestling with unbelief and we see that was also prophesied. The word said that some of the officials believed but loved the praise of man more than the praise of God. Wow! This is a battle within its self, so often we care more about what others will think, then what God thinks. So Christ again tells us why He came into the world. He came that He would speak the word the Father gave Him and it is eternal life. He did not come to judge the world but the word He has spoken will judge the world. So for those of us who believe that Jesus is the Christ, died on the cross for our sins, raised from the dead and is seated at God's right hand, how does it shape your life? Is this the foundation for your day? Today remember why Jesus said He come and ask Him to empower you through the Holy Spirit to follow Him. We must be sharing that same word of eternal life, He gave us, for His glory not ours. God bless

On My Heart...

I plugged in the lyrics to Google Translate.
Here's the song we were singing about God!
Grande y Fuerte es Nuestro Dios
Big and strong is our God
Big and strong is our God

  Clothed in majesty
  crowned with power
  Worth all the worship

  Clothed in majesty
  crowned with power
All glory and honor be to you

Posting and Other Info

Hey everybody!  Welcome to our Guatemala planning page.  I am in the process of adding authors.  You should be receiving an email from the blog soon giving you writing permissions.  You'll need to create a blogger account (hopefully the email will walk you through this) in order to be able to post.  We want this to be a space where Guatemala team members (past and present) can share words, prayers, pictures, and more.  I am pretty sure that you'll have to submit posts for approval.  Since I (Ashley) created the blog I think I'll have to be in charge of that.  Please let me know if you have any email addresses for author's you'd like to invite.  At this point, I've gone through email addresses from past trips and plugged them in.  I'd really like to add Brandon (I think that is the pastor at Pineview) but I don't have his email address.  If you have any questions or just want to post, please feel free to do so now!  Stay tuned for more to come!  Love and prayers to you all and to the beautiful people of Guatemala!
